Please note that this page is meant as a glossary only & doesn't necessarily represent what features you get in any packages. Please visit the features page for information on what features are included with the packages.

Space
This is the amount of space you have to store you images/pictures. When you reach your space limit you will either need to upgrade to a larger package or delete some images. For example, just say your average image size is 50KB & you have the 100MB account; this means you would be able to store approximately 2048 50KB images in your account.

Bandwidth
This is the amount of transfer the web server uses. For example, say you posted an image that was 20KB on one of your auction listings; now just say 1000 people view that 20KB image; that is 1000 people x 20KB (1000 x 20) & you have a total of approximately 20000KB or 20MB of bandwidth used.

Image Limit
This essentially is the amount of images you are allowed to upload. Unlike some other image hosting companies, we do not impose any limits on any of our packages & don't have any plans to. But remember, you won't be able to upload any more images than your space allows.

Image Uploading
This is how many images you can upload at one time. For example, if you wanted to upload 10 images & you can only upload 1 image at a time, you would need to access the image upload page 10 times; if you are allowed to upload 10 images at a time you would only need to access the image upload page once.

Create Multiple Folders
When you upload images you can create different folders to put them in, so as to keep them more organized; this makes it much easier to find a certain image when you looking for it. Some examples of folders you might create; Sigs, Avatars, Auction Images, Holiday Pics, Funny Pics etc..

Domain Restrict
This is where you can restrict what domains your images are allowed to be shown on. For example just say you don't want other people linking to or using your images; if you use domain restrict this is much easier to keep an eye on.

Just say you have an image & you only intend to use it on pages on the site discussionforum.com; you would then input this domain into the domain restrict field & then the image would only be viewable if displayed on discussionforum.com.

Domain restrict can currently be set to affect your whole account, or you can set up different domains for each folder; each list can contain several domains.

Keep in mind however, this doesn't stop other people displaying your image on discussionforum.com; but it's much easier to find out if people are displaying your images this way. Also, this doesn't stop people from actually saving your images on their hard drive & uploading them somewhere else, so they can display it on other domains.

Choose number of thumbs
A "thumb" or "thumbnail" is a term used for displaying smaller pictures of the bigger version so you can preview them & click on the one you want. By default 25 thumbs are shown per page. If you can choose the amount of thumbs in your plan you can choose to display either 15, 25, 40 or 50 per page.

Choose method to sort thumbs
A "thumb" or "thumbnail" is a term used for displaying smaller pictures of the bigger version so you can preview them & click on the one you want. With this option you will be able to choose how your thumbs are sorted when they are displayed in your account folders. You will be able to select from alphabetically, newest or oldest; you will even be able to select the method on a folder by folder basis!

Advanced Linking Code Generator
When you want to get the linking code for an image you simply just click the linking code link under the image & it will load several different types of linking codes into the linking code box above for you to choose from.

Create linking codes in bulk
This feature allows you to select as many images as you want & then it will create all the linking codes for you to copy in one box; rather than you having to copy each link one by one. Useful if you want to get linking codes for many images & put them one after another.

Create Photo Albums
Photo albums give you the ability to create something like an online album. Each album has a unique URL you can give to your friends so they can easily browse through your album; just as they would a real photo album!

Albums have several customizable options & paid accounts can even password protect any album they choose.

Password Protect Photo Albums
Easily password protect any album you like; this will make sure that the only people who see the album are people you want o see the album.

Users can rate your images & photo albums

Users can comment on your images & photo albums

Your image or album page will display the 5 latest comments on the page & you will be able to click a link to see all the other comments made on your image or album.

Advertisements on Pages
If you have a free account, advertisements will appear on pages throughout the site, including your image pages.

Direct Linking

Resize Images
If any of your images are too large & you want them a smaller size so they will display better on screen, use this simple tool to resize any of your images to a more appropriate size.

Add text descriptions on images
If you would like to add some text to the bottom or top of your images to describe the image, you can use this easy tool to accomplish just that!

Note: There is no need to use this tool to add descriptions to images you plan to use in a photo album, as you are given the option to add a text description to each image when adding images to a photo album.

Image Extension Support
These are the various image extensions we support. Images come in many different formats with the most common being .jpg/.jpeg & .gif on the internet.

Move Images/Folders
If you have the ability to create multiple folders then you can move images from one folder to another folder without having to upload it into the other folder. You can also move whole folders around. For example, since you can create sub-folders, you could move the sub-folder /mypics/folder1/ to /auctionpix/folder1/.

Rename Images/Folders
This feature lets you rename any images or folders you like. Please note that when renaming images that the URL of the image will change & you will need to update your links on any page you have them displayed.

Delete Images/Folders
This feature lets you delete any images you may not have a use for anymore. You can delete one image at a time, or fifty images at a time; however many you need to delete; all selectable with a simple checkbox.

Folders can also be deleted, but you will need to clear the folder before you can delete it; this is put in place to make sure you don't delete any images without knowing what's in the folder. Fortunately deleting all contents of a folder is simple with the "select all" checkbox.

Please note though, free users do not have the ability to delete more than one item at a time.

Delete Multiple Images/Folders
Please read the Delete Images/Folders details for more information about deleting multiple files @ once.
